Designed with older users in mind, the Philips XL495 comes with extra large buttons to make it easier to use. The handset also boasts a large, high-contrast display screen, and is hearing aid compatible, too. Three programmable hotkeys can be assigned to specific numbers for one-touch speed-dialling. The Philips XL495 includes an answering machine with up to 30 minutes recording time. This can be accessed from both the handset and the base station for added convenience.

The XL495 also includes some nuisance call blocking features. Users are able to block up to four individual numbers or prefixes, allowing you to prevent the same cold callers from repeatedly contacting you. It also enables you to block outgoing calls to certain prefixes as well- so you won’t end up accidentally calling premium rate phone numbers.
